Blogger was first for me. Now it’s tumblr. Blogs and social networking. Let’s see if this one’s any different.
It’s a funny observation how many ways there are to get information these days. The ease of finding information is amazing and scary at the same time. Need to know something. Odds are, someone’s (if not you) got a smartphone in their pocket and google to answer you. Heck, you don’t even need to type stuff in anymore. Just talk to it?!?
Gone (or going in the forseeable future) are the popular media of old. Magazines… yeah I read them on my iPad. Newspapers….iPad. The emergency broadcast system… DOESN’T WORK unless you’re listening to radio or watching TV. The AM/FM function of my car stereo or alarm clock simply get very little use these days. Everything’s gravitated toward the internet. Breaking news happens? Twitter has it first with LIVE accounts of people at the scene while it’s happening.
At times, it scares me to think of how fast technology has changed around me in my relatively short lifespan. I’ve seen new media formats come to mainstream use and In all honesty, I’ll probably see them die soon too. I’m looking at you CD and DVD. It just goes to show you though, that you have to work at it to keep up with the “ways of the future”.
Which brings be back full circle. First Blogger, now Tumblr. Wait… is this obsolete already?
